What is the Point of Any Religion?

I mean like what is having a religion supposed to do for a person. Religions sometimes lie. We pray but it seldom comes true. I respect everything but like what is the point? Teach us to lead good lives and not blow up this Earth isn't that enough? Why do we need to believe in all the little stuff that deal with the hereafter instead of the world now? I think that religion should jsut focus on this life and do good and teach people tp not be bad. What would have happened if religion wouldn't have been created but in its place were simply morals and some other authority to enforce good behavior?
